time markers in the iOS app

Olaf   June 16th, 2012 1:25a.m.

Those little markers when you're accumulated 5,10, 30 minutes in a day are a nice touch.

Has anyone been able to understand what they actually say, though?

Bodin   June 16th, 2012 8:50a.m.

I like the way the sound effects really ties everything together back to the original game idea that the guys had from the start. That subtle wipping. I just love it.

And no. I don't know what the cool messages say. Although it feels like my 师父 is coaching me in a good way.

I haven't really been paying attention to them, but I think 30 minutes is 加油 (jiā you ) which means Go Go Go!

And I think at 45 minutes you get 厉害 li hai which means awesome

I'll have to pay more attention to them in future.

Bodin   June 16th, 2012 9:02a.m.

I just wait for the day I get the special 12h-props sound effect. This summer?

atdlouis   June 16th, 2012 9:36a.m.

i have sound effects turned off; i didn't even know the time markers had a sound effect.

i try to hit 60 minutes a day though, just so the app gets so excited it wants to make waffles.

Elwin   June 16th, 2012 11:45a.m.

Damn I miss good waffles

bennyboyk   June 16th, 2012 12:57p.m.

I can't remember at what times the markers appear, but I think I can remember hearing:

你真棒 - You're really good
哇,你很厉害 Wa, you're awesome
继续 - continue!

paddy665   June 16th, 2012 10:32p.m.

yeah bennyboy has got it

Talafar   June 17th, 2012 1:43a.m.

I've heard:

5 minutes : 好 (good)
10 minutes 很好 (very good)
15 minutes 非常好 (extremely good)
20 minutes 真棒 (really great)
30 minutes 加油 (come on!)
45 minutes 厉害 (really cool)
60 minutes woaer 一个小时,真的吗?(woah, 1 hour, really?)

Could be wrong on some of them though.

Either way, I'm a huge fan, and excited to try for the higher ones (assuming they exist).

Olaf   June 17th, 2012 2:24a.m.

Yeah, me too. Have found those little details very nice touches. Someone commented on one of the other threads that these little details help gamify the experience and they're completely right.

I'll point out that both the textual messages and the sound files are different based on whether you have eccentric flavor and that the textual messages have multiple alternatives at each interval with eccentric flavor on. The sounds in the Japanese app are different, since we don't have any Japanese epithets recorded yet.
