iOS7 icon

I wish that the Skritter icon for iOS7 gets updated with the new visual style guidelines:

https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/documentation/userexperience/conceptual/mobilehig/AppIcons.html

@Ricardo. You definitely have a right to your opinion mate, and there might be many Skritterers out there who agree with you. However, I will always be a '+1' to requests that improve my functional Skritter experience and therefore my experience of learning Chinese characters efficiently. I hope the developers agree me and focus their limited energies in that direction and not on improving the 'aesthetics' of the app which I think are already excellent.

joeymac1981, the app icon is actually done by a design studio, so it doesn't take us that much time, just a couple thousand dollars to get a new one made. I think we have bigger priorities if we want to get a visual update going, though, like our website itself.

@Nick. Thanks for the info! Well in the case, spend that $2,000 on yourselves!

Would it be mean to sound surprised about the fact that someone charged money to make that ugly icon?

How about having an icon design competition? Could offer a few free months of subscription to the winner. I'm pretty sure you'd get many submissions better than the current one.

podster   November 10th, 2013 5:38a.m.

all I care about the icon is that I can find it fast, and the current one works for me. I agree the company's time can be better spent on other improvements. Rock on, Skritter team!

The icon should be simple. And for that reason, spending $2000 is unnecessary. A chinese character would suffice. That's what most chinese apps seem to go for.

I like the idea of an icon design contest myself. People like the idea of getting their logo to be "the" Skritter logo, toss in a prize and a healthy competition and you guys would be set.

本杰明, I think that the Skritter guys would at least want their little fuzzy mascot-thing to be a part of the logo, anyway.

Not everyone likes the new flat look of iOS7. I prefer the old icons most of the time.

zhangyanglu   November 25th, 2013 6:48a.m.

Haven't upgraded to iOS 7 yet but I figure the icon is still the same one like before, right?

Well, I love our little skritter animal (or whatever it is) ;-)) and the icon is really nice in my opinion.

Still hoping to get Skritter merchandise products in an online shop one day?
