Which iPad is best for skritter?

Anonymous   May 24th, 2013 1:36a.m.

Hi,

I'd like to know which iPad is best for Skritter. Preferably I'd like to buy one as cheap as possible.

if you want a cheap one - buy an old ipod touch.

Does iPad mini work with the Skritter app? Can you write well on it?

it depends how big your fingers are.

my fingers are quite slim and I have so far only used the ipod touch (i only bought it for skritter).
and now I am using the iphone 5.

i could imagine that ipad mini works just fine. go for it if you have no other criteria!

The ipad mini is much better than the full size ipad basically just because its so much lighter in weight. Everything else is basically the same, the only advantage of the full size ipad is the retina display but for skritter this is not really necessary. I use my ipad almost exclusively for skritter though, so if you are going to use it more for other uses then perhaps the full size would be better.

I wouldn't recommend the iPad 1 or iPod touch 4th gen. Both can run Skritter, but because they don't quite have enough memory, they crash sometimes. Everything else (iPhone 4/4S/5, iPod touch 5th gen, iPad 2/3/mini) works great, with the iPad mini being the most-preferred.

One thing I have found is that, for whatever reason, my old iPad first gen, as well as 4th Gen iPod Touch, iPhone 5, work 100x better than my iPad mini with regard to using a capacitive pen. Not sure if this is inherent to the Mini's design relative to my pen, or a one-off situation.

For just using your finger, the Mini is no problem.

I prefer using it on my iphone(5) to my ipad (2).

To me seems better on the phone.

bought an ipad 4 yesterday and its real fun to skritter on it.
all the details like the writing paper surface........ it is a feast for the eye which I couldnt enjoy on the iphone.

I prefer my iPod to my iPad a lot as the iPod is really mobile and you can Skritter everywhere all the time. I normally have a 3G router with me for online connectivity. Battery life is also great compare to my iPhone.

I use my iPhone for Skritter, never my iPad, which works fine but I can't get used to the light theme. If I was going to get an iPad just for Skritter it would be the mini, although the down side with the mini is it lacks the retina screen for reading (Kindle, PDFs, etc.).

I and my fat fingers (!) use a stylus on an ipod touch, and I love it. Just never really got the whole 'writing with your fingers' thing. But each to their own, of course.

I can't really accept writing with my finger either. A stylus is a must-have for me! So I find when I use an iPad that my palm keeps touching the screen and messing up my writings. My iPod touch works perfectly though.
