Other sounds muted

Nicki   October 2nd, 2014 2:54p.m.

Hi! I noticed recently that sounds in other apps are muted when I open skritter. This is a problem for me because I enjoy listening to podcasts while skrittering. Is there some setting somewhere I should change? I looked around but couldn't find it. Or is this a bug introduced in the latest update?

lisaasch   October 2nd, 2014 6:59p.m.

I've been experiencing the same problem... Hope this can be tweaked in the next update :/

It's not muted. It actually pauses the audio - Most apps that play audio do this.

If you have a headset on that can control the audio (like the regular apple ones go), you can just press play again on it to have the audio continue. You can also swipe up the control thingy and hit play there.

You are right. It does pause it. I do press play again but the skritter app pauses it again immediately so unfortunately that solution is not working for me.

This is - beside the obviously ****ed up update (has anyone done any testing before sending it to Apple?!?) - the biggest **** I have seen. I am always listening to music when using Skritter, and sometimes switch between Skritter and Facebook or other apps, maybe once a minute or two, so now I need to restart my song each time I switch the apps? J****, I hope there is ANY good thing about this update?

Oh and I'm flying back to China on the 9th and it's a 29 hour trip door to door so.... No pressure ;) but skrittering while listening to other audio is a big part of how I cope on long plane rides!

+1 on getting this fixed. I always have podcasts or music on, listening via headphones, while using Skritter on trains or planes.

Yesterday I downgraded to the old version, thank god that I had it in my itunes and someone here told us how to undo the update. If they do not fix this sound thing, I will stick to the old version.

Nicki   October 11th, 2014 8:17p.m.

Will this be fixed in the pending update? My study time has plummeted :(

tgack   October 13th, 2014 4:52a.m.

It pauses it on every single word for me.

And every time I go over to Pleco and then back it pauses the audio (this happened even if I turn off all audio int he settings)

Finally, there is no way I can find to play music and have spoken audio overlayed at the same time like I used to do - all in all really frustrating.

+1 on getting this fixed quickly.

It's not in the update that was just approved today, but now that that update is approved, I can go and submit another one that reverts this behavior to respecting the mute switch and not interrupting other music. It'll probably take a similarly long amount of time to get reviewed, though, since I bet Apple is still backlogged. Sorry guys.

Nicki   October 14th, 2014 10:34p.m.

Thanks for letting us know you are working on it. Really appreciate knowing it is going to be fixed.

zhangyanglu   October 15th, 2014 9:26a.m.

As I am still fine with my pre-buggy-update-version, I will wait a week or so after the next update get's released. Nicki will you do the betatesting? ;o)

Nicki   October 15th, 2014 9:29a.m.

Yup I sure will!

It's funny, it seems like I end up beta testing for a lot of projects - guess I just make a good guinea pig!

:D

Nicki   October 30th, 2014 6:39a.m.

They fixed it *happy dance* !!!

Y'all can download the latest update with no fear, I just checked it for ya!
