Looks like the Great Firewall or something like it is preventing you from completely loading www.skritter.com because it is hosted on Google App Engine, which is periodically blocked. Try instead our mirror:

legacy.skritter.cn

This might also be caused by an internet filter, such as SafeEyes. If you have such a filter installed, try adding appspot.com to the list of allowed domains.

You can add img:http://www.example.com/some_image.png to your custom definitions or mnemonics to get them to display images, at least in the web app. At some point we plan to come out with an official set (probably based on all the hard work Byzanti has done).

is there an app that I can use on my iPhone to point and shoot a picture and have that picture become a flash card? Could a future build of Skritter include such a thing? (For example, I see a cat playing with a ball of yarn. I use the app to take a picture of the cat and yarn, and then follow prompts to fill in flash card data. I put in the word "yarn" and select 纱 as the translation. Later I review the card and see the picture including the cute cat, forcing my brain to indelibly remember the word in Chinese for yarn. Maybe a whole new product: "kitty-skritter"
