Amazon $199 Tablet has been released

Dennis   September 29th, 2011 4:32p.m.

The new Amazon 7" Tablet has been released. It's called the Kindle Fire and is on pre-odrer for $199.
Not as feature rich as the iPad, but for the price it seems a great value especially if you use Amazon.

If it turns out to be a hit, I hope Skritter will be adapted to it. It uses Amazon's own version of Android.

A 10" model is expected to be released.

Have you seen any info about whether it will run Flash or not? That'll be the big question for us.

Dennis   September 30th, 2011 7:33p.m.

Yes, it has Flash from what I've read. It also has its own browser.

Yeah, the Silk browser where everything is compressed and cached on Amazon's cloud and served to the tablet super fast, or so they say. I'll be interested to see how speedy that ends up being, and if it plays nice with the study page.

You can apply for the SDK at http://kdk.amazon.com. Perhaps Flash will have its own channel.
