Hi,

in the iOS app I keep seeing English or mixed English-Italian definitions, also for words/characters for which I have already amended it in the webapp.

Moreover: correcting in the app not always work: for some words after a while it gets back to the English or mixed definition. For other it works.

'cause learning is already difficult, mixing up 3 languages doesn't help.

Anyone with the same issue?

Yes, I've got the same problem with French definitions.
Not really helping in learning Chinese, OK, but an opportunity to review my English vocabulary !

@Nick and the team: I've noticed this behavior also in the webapp. When words get added and proposed for studying for the first time, the definition is either in English or with the first meaning in English followed by the italian definition.

I have found a workaround, which seems to have effect also on the app: I go in the word table in the "my word" page while I study with the app, or directlly from the study pannel while on the webapp and click on the pencil, as if I woud edit the definition, and just save it without changing anything. This seems to force the system to use the Italian definition, as I said, both on the webapp and in iPad app, because from that moment onwards I get it right.

Hope this may help when you will look at this.

I have the same with German, Scott looked into this. There are a few problems:
- If you do the correction in ios app, the correction might go into a wrong language. Just have a look a your customs definitions, if - after accepting everything in Baller - there is still some custom definition left, then it went to the wrong language. Just click on the item and the definition and save it again (in the web app). Then it goes correctly into Baller. I'm doing in the moment the main corrections only on the web app. Scott will fix this.
- Once you have corrected it in Baller, your custom definition is deleted and it shows the standard definition. However, definition updates to the ios app are only made once a day, that means you have a one day delay. During this one day, it falls back to the old definition, which means, if there was none, it shows English. One day later, it should show your update. Scott is looking into this and tries to tweak it a bit to minimize this effect.

@pippopluto: For both the web and the app, the reason you see English is you have Heisig keywords enabled. We only have those for English currently, so they will always be in English. The second part is the actual definition, in one language or another.

There is a bug in the latest release where downloading the app anew when you've already set your source language on the website, sometimes it won't automatically download the alternative definitions. If you're seeing this, you can fix this before the next release by switching your source lang on the app from your language to English and then back again.
