How to 'clear' or 'reset' my progress/lists/vocab

shovel   April 18th, 2009 9:28a.m.

Hi,

upon setting up my Skritter account I did what is probably fairly normal, I played around! I added some lists and tried practicing some words and liked what I saw. All good.

Now I want to start the revision/learning process seriously from scratch but I don't see any way of removing words from the list of what I need to practice or from my list of vocab.

I unchecked 'add starting from' in the vocab lists section but that doesn't remove the lessons previously added. Is there any way of doing this or should I just set up a new account?

Thanks

Ignore me, I just saw the "How to Reset an Account" thread. I'll shut up now.

No problem, hopefully soon I'll be setting up something in the vocabulary options page to allow users to wipe their own accounts. Until then, email me at scott@skritter.com and I'll take care of it for you!

I brought up the same thing but was told to delete all the stuff item by item. I opted instead for starting a new account from scratch.

Well, there are a few options available to you. You could do as da43811 mentions; simply go to the vocabulary lists page and select the words you don't want to study, then press the delete button. You don't lose whatever progress you made on them, as if you add the words again later you'll be where you left off. If you're just feeling overwhelmed but still want to study what you've added you can use the save me button to delay what you've got to study until later.

A lot of people think the check box in the vocabulary list page controls whether you study words from that list or not. It actually just controls whether or not words are automatically added from that list. We're working now on a new interface to make it clearer. Buttons were added for selecting list and section to make it easier to clear out a large chunk of words that you don't want to study anymore, though.

I'll be adding the ability to delete all your data on your account on the vocabulary options page, soon.
