New App Not Working (Demo and Writing)

Monty   June 14th, 2012 6:47p.m.

I have downloaded the new app on iPhone 4 and iPad 2 a number of times over the last 48 hours. The demo does not work and the writing does not work (when I try to write "ni" for example absolutely nothing happens--no black ink or any other response). I have never used skritter before so it may be possible that I am doing something wrong but not likely. The only reason I have made it this far without throwing iPhone against the wall is because of sinosplice recommendation, but slowly losing patience. Any suggestions?

There's a bug in the current version. If you use the demo a black screen will come up. If you subsequently try to use your account, it then wont work. The way to get it to work is to force quit the app, and next time you start it up don't go into the demo. It should then work fine.

(Though, if you're solely wanting to use the demo, you'll have to wait for Apple to approve the version with the bug fix, whenever that will be...)

Thank you sir. You are a genius. The writing works now.

Mere parroting of what has oft been said!

I tried the Flash demo on my PC to see how the testing worked. This gives a pretty good idea of how the testing works. Of course writing on the iPad/iPhone/iTouch is way better than writing with a mouse.

This must be really frustrating for the developers who have been slaving over this app for months and now that it is released there is a bug with the demo which could turn off potential new subscribers.

I feel your pain Skritter-masters.
