How to create a list from Pleco Flaschard List

lechuan   June 14th, 2012 5:59p.m.

I'd like to create a vocab list from my pleco flashcard textfile.

It is of the form (it doesn't show on the forum, but columns are tab-separated):

//Remembering Simplified Hanzi/RSH1_01
一 yī [1] one
二 èr [2] two
三 sān [3] three
四 sì [4] four
五 wǔ [5] five
六 liù [6] six
七 qī [7] seven
八 bā [8] eight
九 jiǔ [9] nine
十 shí [10] ten
口 kǒu [11] mouth
日 rì [12] day
月 yuè [13] month
田 tián [14] rice field
目 mù [15] eye
//Remembering Simplified Hanzi/RSH1_02
古 gǔ [16] ancient
胡 hú [17] recklessly
叶 yè [18] leaf
吾 wú [19] I (literary)
朋 péng [20] companion
明 míng [21] bright
唱 chàng [22] sing
晶 jīng [23] sparkling
品 pǐn [24] goods
昌 chāng [25] prosperous
早 zǎo [26] early
旭 xù [27] rising sun
世 shì [28] generation
胃 wèi [29] stomach
旦 dàn [30] daybreak
凹 āo [31] concave
凸 tū [32] convex

I tried adding these as explained in the FAQ, but it does not use my definitions, and seems to have a 200 word limit. I'd like to keep my own defintions since they contain the keyword indice.

I posted the full deck here:
http://www.plecoforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3114

If it's just a matter of formatting, I don't mind reformatting the file.

Thanks,
lechuan

There may be an easier way. Heisig's remembering simplified characters already exists in the textbook section. If you want to use Heisig's definitions, there's an option in both the iOS app and the web version's settings to enable these.

A general note on lists, the limit is 200 words/characters a section, but as far as I'm aware there's no limit on the number of sections a list can have.

Thanks Byzanti. It would be quite a bit of manual work to set up separate sections for this. Is there a technical reason for the 200 word limit?

One thing that's different about my definition is that it has the indice of the characters, which I find useful as a cross-reference.

I guess my question is, does Skritter support importing of a custom definition along with the character?

You've probably noticed you can use your own custom definitions, but there isn't a way to import a whole batch automatically. Try sending Nick or Scott an email, see if they can help!

As for separate sections, you may as well just use the Heisig list that's already on Skritter. Definitions aren't tied to lists, they are universal.

If you've got just one big batch, go ahead and send the file our way and we'll add it in ourselves.

I'm pretty happy with the built-in Heisig lists now that I turned on the Heisig definition. Thanks for the help!
