IOS app: only getting writing tests...

lechuan   July 24th, 2012 9:03p.m.

Today I reset all my words, turned on reading, writing, definition tests, set add to manual, added 110 characters and 8 words. As expected, I got 354 due (118*3).

However, when I tested, I only got writing tests, and the words due dropped by three each time I completed writing a character.

When I synced and checked my words online, all the definition/pinyin are due in 10 hours from now. I was expecting that I would be able to test them all immediately after manual adding.

Is this normal behavior?

Thanks,
lechuan

I usually get that especially when I study for the first time that day. I just assumed it was normal behaviour. Would be interesting to see what Scott or Nick say.

Sorry lechuan I should have added that the similar behaviour is the dropping in numbers due by '3' or '2'.

I don't get similar behaviour in just getting writing tests. I think that maybe is because you reset the characters/word lists and Skritter tests you first on Writing. I could be wrong though...

The good news is that once I went over the review of written characters I had gotten wrong and down into "zero due", I started to get the definition and pinyin tests.

It is normal behaviour - the different parts of new words are scheduled apart. That way you don't do the pinyin, writing, tone and definition all together (at least 3 of which you would be bound to get right!).

Thanks Byzanti. That makes perfect sense now.
