Manually Adding Words to Lists

马洲屹   August 13th, 2012 6:30a.m.

Apologies if that this question has been ask and answered in the past - the iOS forum page does not have a search function.

I was wanting to add a whole of characters for an upcoming train trip. What I was wanting to know is that if I add 144 characters...are those spaced out within my sessions? i.e. I don't receive 144 new characters one after the other.

They will be pretty much all together...

Thanks Byzanti...that is what I thought. I can get around it but...just a little bit more annoying.

I only manually addwords, and I sometimes do a large add. I have noticed that if you have scheduled reviews for previous sessions, they will be mixed in among your new words. If you happen to get a lot of your new words wrong, you will start to review those before moving on to your newer new words. Also, you'll get writing tests first for the new characters, but reading, definition, etc. will be pushed ahead so that you don't get tested on the same character soon after just seeing it. Thus the different test types, for the same word, will be spread out over a few days (depending on how many types you test yourself on). If you get below your retention rate, you should also expect to see more reviews mixed in among your new words.

@lechuan. Thanks for the info mate! I just saw from the automatic email how many characters you are adding a day! You are a machine!!

I think I'll try it out with a relatively small batch first and then see how I go. I am going to have a lot of time on my hands. 23 hours on the train and I was only able to purchase a hard seat...

@joeymac1981: My stats are a bit misleading. I had already learned about 800 characters outside of Skiritter before I decided to do everything in Skritter. I nuked all my words, turned on Reading, Writing, and Definition tests, and added 100 words a day for 8 days. Now that I've caught up, I add 10 characters, and up to 5 words, per day.

Enjoy your train ride! I do most of my studying on the bus/train.

Out of curiosity, what is this automatic email you speak of?

马洲屹   August 16th, 2012 1:18a.m.

Just an email that automatically appears once someone replies to one of your posts. You have to click the button to be notified when making your original post.
