Can't change example sentences

nomadwolf   October 7th, 2013 10:38p.m.

I'm trying to change the example sentence for 今 (because "今...令" kind of gives the writing away).

But in the sentence selector, I select a new sentence and click "done". The Character Info pop up doesn't update with the new sentence.
When check the character info popup again, it still is not updated.

How do I change the sentences? I'm doing this all from the beta site.

Which sentence are you picking? I'll take a look.

Yea we really need it in the app as well. I never use the web version.

Would be great being able to select sentences in the app version.

Sorry, been busy. The relevant sentence I chose is "他今早睡過頭了"

Hmm; I can't reproduce this. Does it always happen, or just sometimes? Does it happen just in the word/character popup, when selecting a sentence from the front-end sentence "(change)" selector, or both?

I'm hearing you on the selecting sentences in the app; I've got it on the list, but not for this coming update. Might try it out first as just part of the online word popup embedded in the app.

I don't use the web, so I haven't changed sentences much... for previous attempts on other words, I don't know if it went through because I just assumed it did.
Only reason I noticed this one is because I can only think of 2 words that have this kind of "give-away" example. (爪 is the other I remember, but that example seems to have disappeared on the website).

My procedure is as follows:
1. Go to My Words and search for jin1
2. Click on 今 to get the appropriate popup
3. Once the example pops up (takes longer than the other data items on the popup), click on the pencil icon
4. Click on check box for "他今早睡過頭了" (is last one of 1st page for me). No other checkboxes are selected
5. Click "done". When returning to the original popup, there has been no change in the example.

I *just* tried this with the "#1" sentence (今天星期幾?), and it worked... when I hit "done" to return to the popup, it changes to the selected sentence.
But when I go back and pick my sentence from above, it returns to the "今...令" (which is ranked 3rd in the selection list).
If I pick the 2nd ranked one, it also works, but if I pick the 4th or 5th rank, it does not.

Thanks for the details; I'll get this one when I do my next round of sentence quality improvement features.
