Looks like the Great Firewall or something like it is preventing you from completely loading www.skritter.com because it is hosted on Google App Engine, which is periodically blocked. Try instead our mirror:

legacy.skritter.cn

This might also be caused by an internet filter, such as SafeEyes. If you have such a filter installed, try adding appspot.com to the list of allowed domains.

Click to Calculate

Just noticed the click to calculate feature on the study page. Thumbs up! It looks a lot less cluttered and now people only see it if they want to (it didn't really ever mean much to me, so I like not having to look at it).

Glad to hear it. We did some analysis of the loading speed, and I think this will actually help speed up some other parts of the site, strangely enough.

Its okay, I prefered the previous way.

But you still haven't fixed the blank graph/progress stats empty boxes on www.skritter.com/home (displayed after you log in)

On chrome (14 on windows 7 64 bit) it shows an empty box with a broken image symbol in the middle

On firefox 6 it displays the same empty boxes but has the words loading in them.

IE 9 displays the boxes with the broken image symbols with the words loading next to them

I'll try to remember to upload the screenshots when I get home.

Its the same in firefox 7 on windows 7.

I personally am a fan of the new way...my internet is not always super-fast since I'm in a rural area.

Reduced load time on the homepage means I don't have to rush-click on something to prevent Skritter from loading forever.

The 'upcoming word' stats don't mean much to me unless I'm trying to show someone how Skritter works.

In short: Thanks!

@alxx: I hadn't heard about this bug before! I checked on Firefox and Chrome though and wasn't able to reproduce it. Is anyone else having this issue? And do you get an image of an empty graph with this link?

My Chrome 14 + XP: homepage all OK.

alxx   September 28th, 2011 7:37p.m.

Looks like its only my work pc's.

I get an image of an empty graph with that link here at home(running chrome 16 dev and firefox 7 on win 7 64 bit)

Can replicate in firefox 7 if I use no script to block write-way.appspot.com so works like firewall at work is causing it as its across multiple computers and multiple browsers. Typical.
