Progress page enhancement request - # items ready for review

Doug (松俊江)   December 3rd, 2009 4:52a.m.

I've made Skritter's progress page my home page (all the better to remind me to skrit) but the one thing that is missing from it is the number of items ready for review (this is only on the home page). Could the number of items ready for review also be added to the progress page?

I dunno, it seems kind of redundant and out of place. The progress page is backward looking while the items to review is looking forward. And what number do you show when you're looking at a range that's not in the present?

Really the home page is the one that's designed to be bookmarked, or gone to by default, because it has that number and a couple of the most important pieces of your progress page, among other things. Is there something more from the progress page you might want to have on the home page?

But thanks for putting us as your homepage!

The progress page shows me how well I'm doing which acts as an encouragement to do more. It also is the most informational about how I'm doing. The home page has snippets rather than details - how well I've been keeping up with my practice queue is, for me, an important part of my progress.

Hmm, nah for now at least we'd rather not put it in. For me, it doesn't fit in nicely with the whole way the progress page is built, that is around the date range you have selected. It doesn't feel like it belongs, or you'd expect it to be there.

Also, it would slow down the page because unfortunately it's costly server-side to calculate that number. If it weren't, I'd be for building it into the main navigation, something like putting the number in parenthesis in the practice tab, so you see it in many or all of the pages when you're logged in.

If there's any way we could make the home page better at giving you what you get from the progress page, though, I think that would work best.
