No characters visible after update!!!

s2ericks   October 1st, 2014 4:36a.m.

My app no longer displays characters on many of the questions since I updated! Help!

fabienne   October 1st, 2014 5:27a.m.

I have the same problem,

mcmlxxxiv   October 1st, 2014 5:28a.m.

Same sort of problem here.

I updated the Skritter app this morning and now when I am studying definitions, the characters do not appear.

In other study modes the characters seem to be appearing OK, but obviously this issue renders the app unusable currently.

iPhone 4, iOS 7.

supergross   October 1st, 2014 5:39a.m.

Me too! Updated this morning and now I can't see any characters. IPhone 5c iOS 8.

russell359   October 1st, 2014 6:40a.m.

I have the se problem. Seems slower too.

williambarrow   October 1st, 2014 6:48a.m.

Same problem here.

Initially thought it may have something to do with me updating the android version on my nexus and using that this morning causing some sort of clash with iOS, but seeing this it is clearly a problem with the iOS update.

jblinguaphile   October 1st, 2014 8:27a.m.

Same problem here too. I updated from iOS 7 to iOS 8.0.2 this morning and now my Skritter Chinese can't display characters anymore. It looks like I'm using version 2.6.0. Please let us know when we can expect a fix.

sijiali   October 1st, 2014 9:04a.m.

I have the same problem, I updated the app this morning. But the problem only seems to appear with traditional characters, not with simple ones.
Iphone 4s, iOS 7

ErikHaze   October 1st, 2014 11:16a.m.

japanesemajor   October 1st, 2014 12:25p.m.

I have the same problem on the Japanese Skritter app. I can't see any kanji, which limits me to only writing practice. I can see an empty box or just a blank space where the kanji should be when studying readings and definitions. On the other hand, the new update for the iOS app is allowing me to study single lists again, but without being able to see kanji while practicing reading and definitions...I hope they can fix this soon.

s2ericks   October 1st, 2014 12:29p.m.

If I wasn't paying so darn much to use this app, I would be more understanding and patient. this really needs to be fixed ASAP!

Dagou   October 1st, 2014 1:12p.m.

One more time: Same problem after updating to 2.6.0: Slower than before and charakters are missing.- iPhone 4s iOS 7

SkritterJake   October 1st, 2014 2:08p.m.

We're terribly sorry that everyone is seeing issues on the latest update. The development team is working on identifying and fixing these bugs as quickly as they can. The bug is not appearing on all devices so thanks for posting your iOS version and device type, that should help us narrow down the issue and a solution.

Thank you very much for your patience while we sort things out.

I didn't update iOS on my phone nor anything else. Tried deleting local data to no effect. I normally only use the phone but right today I went to the web page as well. Didn't study there but did create a new list for me there.
Phone app stopped working after that.
Hope that helps to find the bug

Why not just put the old version back in the app store? Seems like a quick and easy fix while you work out the bugs.

dbkluck   October 1st, 2014 9:55p.m.

I do have to second s2ericks' sentiments about getting this fixed quickly... at the end of the day, you're selling software-as-a-service, and charging the exact same price as Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop, both of which I would expect are orders of magnitude more complex to test and maintain. Granted it's a niche product, but I'd still expect a little more polish in these releases.

aokoye   October 1st, 2014 10:18p.m.

Same problem here (I'm only posting this to give you the hardware and firmware specs not to pile on)

iPad 3rd Generation (MC706LL/A)
iOS 8.0.2

Additionally the day before I updated (which was the day before the most recent version of the Japanese app got pushed) the app was having syncing problems (which are now resolved with the update but that was likely totally coincidental and and issue with the server).

salmoxis   October 1st, 2014 10:35p.m.

Same problem . iOS 7 iPhone 5 no recent updates. Fix please!
