Looks like the Great Firewall or something like it is preventing you from completely loading www.skritter.com because it is hosted on Google App Engine, which is periodically blocked. Try instead our mirror:

This might also be caused by an internet filter, such as SafeEyes. If you have such a filter installed, try adding appspot.com to the list of allowed domains.

Offline skritter

Hi,

I will be on a cruise for a couple of weeks in July. I don't want to stop using Skritter but the WiFi is expensive on the boat.

Is there anyway I can log on to Skritter, disconnect the internet for a short period of time, and still have my progress get recorded?

Thanks.

Just a user myself, I made the experience, that you can use skritter (iPhone) offline fine, the progress will be synced, when going online again. What doesn't work for me is adding new words from my lists.

Yep, it will sync your progress when you have a connection again.

If your planning on going without internet access for awhile, you could import a bunch of words (or whatever amount you feel you could handle) while you are still connected to the internet in preparation for being without access by double tapping the green "+" sign at the top of the study session window, which lets you add multiple words at a time.

Thanks guys but I don't have an iphone. I was planning to study from my laptop.

There's no way to do the offline study from the laptop, unfortunately. We did a ton of work to make the offline sync possible in the iOS app which hasn't yet made sense to redo for the web version.

If you borrowed someone's iOS device, you could keep up with your reviews that way. Otherwise, make sure to stop adding words a few weeks in advance of your trip and perhaps overstudy somewhat beforehand so that you don't have as big a review backlog when you come back.

Thanks. Those are good ideas. I'll stop adding words a few weeks before the trip.
