Looks like the Great Firewall or something like it is preventing you from completely loading www.skritter.com because it is hosted on Google App Engine, which is periodically blocked. Try instead our mirror:

legacy.skritter.cn

This might also be caused by an internet filter, such as SafeEyes. If you have such a filter installed, try adding appspot.com to the list of allowed domains.

problem with 'characters learned'

The 'characters learned'and 'characters added' counts have been declining rapidly over the past few days, although the graph reflects an increase to the degree that seems realistic.

Actually, the way the progress page works, the numbers in the table reflect the period of time that you have selected. So when you enter the progress page those numbers are how much you've learned, added and reviewed over the past 7 days, not since you arrived, while the graph up above gives you total numbers as well as the progress of the week. If you want to see your total numbers in the table, hover over 'Week' in the upper left corner, select 'Year' or 'Month' and you'll get to see your progress over those longer time spans.

You're not the first to have thought it worked that way! It's on our list to tweak to make it clearer what the data means.
