still can't get Anki to work properly

Bohan   October 16th, 2010 4:46a.m.

For some odd reason the pinyin is loading into the "Tags" field, and therefore not showing up when I flip cards over to see the other side.

James/Thomas I did what you guys told me to do and I thought it was going to work but it's still not working. Any other tips?

I tried going to the Anki forum and contacting the Anki creator but neither has helped

Why did you create a new thread? We had a perfectly good one going.

I don't know what you did with Excel. My advice was to edit the model. Did you try that?

hey James,

I didn't do anything in Excel. I did what you said:
1. Open your deck
2. Go to "Settings" and select "Deck Properties"
3. Select the model you are using for your cards and click "Edit"
4. Go to "Card Templates"
5. Click on the card template you want to change
6. Now follow the instructions in my previous message.

It would be working properly if the pinyin would load into the Pinyin field , rather than the Tags field

When you imported from Anki, did you configure the fields in the Import window?

jww1066   October 17th, 2010 8:08a.m.

Sorry, imported TO Anki

Bohan   October 17th, 2010 2:04p.m.

Okay, just before I click on "import" , I see the "field mapping" with :

Field 1 is of file: mapped to Front Change
Field 2 is of file: mapped to Back Change
Field 3 is of file: mapped to Field3 Change

When you say "configure", do you mean by clicking on the "change" buttons shown above? If so, I did that and it's not letting me put two fields on either the front or back.

No, you want to import them to three separate fields like Expression, Pinyin, and Meaning. Then you use the Card Template to put the fields you want into the Question and Answer.
